The Indiana Beekeepers' Association (IBA) was started in 1998. With educational focus and with members statewide, it has become Indiana's largest beekeeping group (over 750 members). Year round programs help to keep its members up-to-date on all matters about beekeeping. Its key programs include:
- A February Indiana Bee School held in Indianapolis on the last Saturday of the month (attended by over 400 in 2006)
- April and May Spring Field Clinics held throughout the state (attended by about 350 last year)
- Participation in Indiana State Fair providing the public with Honey Ice Cream, various honeys from all over the state, an observation hive, a live bee demonstration in the gazebo and answers to the public's questions
- A November Fall Conference at a State Park, this year it will be at Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell
- Creating, supporting and strengthening of local beekeeper groups.
The IBA publishes the IBA Newsletter, a quarterly focus on all aspects of Indiana beekeeping. Its main purpose is "To Promote Better Beekeeping throughout Indiana". The charter for the IBA is presently being updated and has been temporarily removed from this web site. The updated version will be placed on this page after the Fall November meeting.
